I may have missed my opportunity last month, but this month I wanted to do a shoot themed to the namesake of the month and great-nephew of the namesake of last month, Caesar Augustus. The first Roman emperor (and often heralded as the greatest), Augustus helped Rome prosper, having learned much about military leadership from Julius, who was the last Roman dictator.
He is often depicted wearing a civic crown, a Roman award for saving a fellow soldier in battle, made out of oak leaves, but I was unable to find one, so a laurel crown, one earned for triumph in battle (and often presented in gold to generals), will have to do. There are many other crowns that the romans wore, though, earned through various feats of bravery and conquest in battle, for events such as sacrifices, births, marriages, and parties, and for certain divine positions, namely emperors and gods, all taking on various forms.
Happy August!
